He was born in Port Lincoln, South Australia. Worked as a medical Musculoskeletal Specialist and became the Secretary General of the world's largest Medical Association. Through opportune chance more than by planning, became involved in medical research, helping to develop antivenin for the deadly Box Jellyfish with Dr Jack Barnes and later the discovery of Irukandji, the most venomous creature on the planet. No risk, he considers luck is being in the right place at the right time. Who said good fortune was a planned assault? While professionally diving in "hard-hat" on the oil fields in Bass Strait, he became the first person to use "oxygen washout therapy" to treat the diver's bends This has become standard treatment for current physical management. Later he spent four years on the Research Committee of the International Federation of the Musculoskeletal Medicine (FIMM).
