Biografische Anmerkung

This is the second edition of Crossing the Divide, 20 Lessons to Help You Thrive in Cross-Cultural Environments. We have made changes to this edition to make it easier to read. But we still focus on the following: Are you ready for the new global reality? One where diverse cultures and ethnicities will make up your living and working environments? Can you relate your life experience to others? Can you adapt to changing settings? Can you form relationships and build trust to achieve a common goal?
A respected and seasoned journalist, Jessica Stone, uses her 20 years of adventures, mistakes, and triumphs to give you the keys to conquering these challenges. Come along as she takes you out of the classroom and parachutes you into the real-life lab, and you'll be ready to take on the world!
You will learn to:
Communicate effectively cross-culturally
Set realistic expectations for yourself and others in a new country or culture
Calibrate healthy debate within a professional setting
Orient yourself to an Eastern management style
Plan and execute an international trip to a place where you don't know a soul

JESSICA STONE is a 20 year veteran of local, national and international newsrooms where she has covered the intersection of politics and business around the world. Her work has appeared in the South China Morning Post, Yahoo Finance, Stansberry Research, USA Today, and the nation's FOX and CBS radio & television stations. Jessica's journalistic curiosity and passion to understand have taken her to five continents to work alongside a variety of cultures around the world. She spent seven years covering U.S.-China relations while serving as a White House Correspondent for China Global Television Network. During that time, she covered the rise of President Xi Jinping. She accompanied President Barack Obama to Brazil to cover how American foreign policy there diverged from China's. She was also the first CGTN correspondent to travel with President Donald Trump for a state visit to China in 2017. Jessica also produced the CGTN documentary, Oil Sands at a Crossroads,1 about Chinese investment in Canadian energy. She has interviewed former California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger and former presidential candidates, including John Kerry, John Edwards, John McCain, Mitt Romney, Barack Obama, and Donald Trump. She has reported from the military commissions at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, the 2010 earthquake aftermath in Port-au-Prince, Haiti and spent two months covering the war in Afghanistan in 2009. These days, she lives with her family of four in Washington D.C. where she continues to apply her cultural competency skills to meaningful debates both on the world stage and across the dinner table.
